It’s been a dream for Thomas Glerup, since he entered the business a couple of decades ago.

It was in fact his mother who got him into the business. She started felting the wool from her husbonds sheep, and it resulted in a woolen felted boot, which was so comfortable that people started recommending. Sales grew steadily simply because it turned out that wool is so comfortable to wear. An ancient knowledge by the way that we just seemed to forget somehow, when we industrialized the production of footwear.

Wool has exceptional abilities to absorb moist, which keep our skin dry and feeling warm. The natural content of lanolin protects each fiber against dirt and bad odors. It’s light and hardwearing. It’s flexible and it is a natural, renewable and compostable material which does no harm to our environment.

The wool shoes we launched in Glerups have remained largely unchanged for over 20 years, and they are actually a very simple product. A felted sock that is shrunk around a last and a sole is attached.Not that sexy, just very comfortable and habit forming home shoe. When Thomas Glerup launched Wool2fit he improved the concept by offering 3 different withs in order to offer even healthier footwear with a more spacious toe box.

An old dream

But the dream goes beyond making home shoes. And even though a lot of customers has discovered that our wool shoes are excellent summer shoes as well, the goal is to develop customized wool shoes for every season and every use and change the way we walk on this planet.

Thomas Glerup has invented a new felting technique, that will make it possible to felt any shape of uppers by controlling the thickness of the felt. A technique that will make customized shoe making a reality in moderne footwear production.

Yes! You read it. We have figured out how to make woolen uppers for anyones feet. It’s just a matter of putting together some of the wonderful new technologies with some ancient knowledge and a little of my magic ;)

Another magic that this could result in is actually a whole new business model.

Maybe you’ve already guessed it. Selling customized shoes is done per order, and thus everything will suddenly be manufactured on demand.

So if we provide the app for measuring, making it easy to integrate in any web shop, We will receive the data on the feet and the customer, and then we might as well send the finished pairs directly to the customer, saving both us and the web shop owner a parcel.

And not only will we save the shop owner a parcel. We actually will save an entire stock, since stock makes no sense when we are manufacturing on demand.

We believe we our app and our shoes will be available on a lot of webshops in the near future.

What’s not to like?

No risk! Just install an app on your web shop, and you are selling extremely comfortable and fashionable 1:1 customized footwear.

Since we can manufacture pretty cheap compared to traditional footwear, we can give the shop owner a nice overhead and still be profitable.

We could even offer private labels to high profile brands, and let their retailers offer these branded shoes.
